What is Sahaja Yoga Meditation?
Meditation has been known throughout history for its ability to bestow joy, happiness and peace.
A recent medical study, conducted by the University of Sydney in Australia, has proven that ten minutes of Sahaja Yoga Meditation every day, improves mental and physical health.
The Sahaja Yoga Meditation technique is simple. Practitioners sit comfortably on a chair or on the floor, with their eyes closed and palms open in their lap. The attention is then gently guided to different places along the spine until it reaches the top of the head, at which time thoughts begin to slow down and finally stop altogether. This is known as the ‘Thoughtless Awareness’ state.
The experience of Thoughtless Awareness (or ‘mental stillness’) is unique to the Sahaja Yoga Meditation method and is what Sydney doctors found to be the cause of its beneficial effects.
The founder of Sahaja Yoga meditation was Nobel Prize nominee Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, an Indian lady born into a Christian family, who spent the last 35 years of her life travelling the world to teach Sahaja Yoga Meditation for free.
Sahaja Yoga Meditation is now practiced in over 120 countries and classes are always held free of charge.
Shri Mataji dedicated her life to the teaching of this simple practice because she saw a deep need throughout the world for people to find their peace within. All of us who have benefited from her teachings, honour her example by sharing the technique, free of charge, with anyone who is interested.
